Calculate priority based on date.
A function to let have newer posts higher priority, would be nice. :-)

How do you want to calculate this? Should the last x days have more priority?

Add support for custom post_types
WP 2.9+ has support for creating custom post types. These should be included in the sitemap as well, i suppose

Google News sitemap support
Google (XML) Sitemaps Generator should also have an option to generate a Google News XML sitemap. This is a different type of sitemap google requires if a person wants their blog posts indexed in google news(news.google.com). To read about google news sitemaps you can go here:

Update LastChange when someone leave a comment
I have some posts that gets continuously new comments.
But the LastChange of these posts don't get update, so, i think, google don't check these page so often and new comments aren't indexed.63 votes -
Manually enter priority of static pages
Not all static pages have the same priority, and the only real way I see to accomplish this would to be able to assign priority values manually. Right now I edit the generated xml sitemap to achieve this, but that obviously gets overwritten quite often. Being able to assign priority to individual static pages would be great.

Option to split large sitemaps and create index file
Google only allows sitemaps with a maximum of 50,000 urls in the file above this number and you need to split the sitemap into smaller files with a maximum of 50,000 per file and use a sitemap index file to index all of the sub files.
I would suggest incorporating the option to either have the user select whether they want the sitemap split or even better to detect the number of urls in a sitemap and automatically split it. A script over at http://www.dyasonhat.com/wordpress-plugins/split-large-xml-sitemaps-php-script/ could be built into the current plugin to easily accomplish this.

Remove need for Yahoo application ID
According to Yahoo, an application ID is no longer needed to submit a sitemap. You have to use the Ping Service instead of the similar Update Notification Service. How about removing that from the configuration to simplify the options?
Here is the Yahoo API pages where they say no ID is needed: http://developer.yahoo.com/search/siteexplorer/V1/ping.html

The ping service without API key was very unstable in the past. I will check how it is performing now and see if we shuld switch.

Allow mass addition of non-WP pages
I have a large number of additional, non-WP pages that are posted on a regular basis. It's not convenient to have to go in and add new pages to the "additional pages" area. So, I'd like to either have a process that I could add when the new content is posted or have the Sitemap Generator pull in an external XML and compile it. Either way.
Thanks for a truly AWESOME plug-in!

also exclude children of excluded pages.
There may be a whole part of my site I don't want to include. It would be so much better if I could just exclude the one parent page and trust that all the children pages will also be excluded from the sitemap without having to add the new page id each time I add a page.

Support for WP2.7 multipage comments
WP2.7 offers an option to organize comments in pages (i.e. 50 comments per page).
http://www.example.com/?p=100
only displays the last 50 comments of post 100 and Sitemaps Generator only includes this page.It should also include:
http://www.example.com/?p=100&cpage=x

Add image support to sitemap (google just did)
Google has added image support to sitemaps. Wordpress sites that rely heavily on images for their purpose are going to want support for this like crazy.
