Hi, feel free to post any new suggestions! If you have a problem with the plugin or want to report a bug, please go here instead:
http://www.arnebrachhold.de/redir/sitemap-support/

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Use the Wordpress DB abstraction

Nice plugin, but currently it only works with a mysql DB backend. This is probably what most users have, but there are a few (including myself ;) ) that use for example sqlite. If you could somehow use the DB abstraction layer that Wordpress provides for accessing the database, your plugin should work seamless with other DB backends as well. Thx.

  2. Allow post exclusion by custom field

I have a plugin that creates a bunch of pages that shouldn't go in the sitemap - they're marked as not indexed, so they're really just taking up space and processor time in the sitemap.

I figure the easiest way to exclude them is to have a meta field that Sitemaps Generator checks to see if it should exclude the page.

Naturally, I'm open to any way to do this, I just don't really like the idea of messing with the Sitemaps Generator options, in case you decide to change them in the future.

  3. 'new page/post' page option

Give an option on the 'new page/post' page for inclusion in the sitemap so you don't have to fiddle about typing in the page/post IDs
    :)

  4. Support Domain Mapping with MU

I am using a sub-directory based Wordpress 3 MU with the Domain Mapping plugin.

This allows me to map a domain name to one of the wordpress sub-domains without doing any kind of redirection.

What I'd like to see, as a simple solution, is a field to over-ride the detected base URL for the sitemap.

I.E. The site may be example.org/site1/ with domain mapping set to site1.org. Let me manually override the base url and put in site1.org.

  5. Change the modified date on all the pages i.e. index.php That way google recaches them.

My title didnt update for ages on google even though it was crawling it. I realised it was because index.php hadnt changed its last modified date.

  6. Don't allow sitemaps to be submitted less than 10 minutes apart

Don't allow sitemaps to be submitted less than 10 minutes apart, as google might see submitting sitemaps more than once in a couple of minutes as spamming. If you're editing a post, for example, right after it goes live.

  7. Crawl Delay option for robots.txt

I need to be able to modify the crawl delay on the robots.txt. But since the plugin is generating it, I cannot do that. I would add this option on the admin and then easily generate it on the file

    Thanks

  9. expand the field for excluding pages and posts. It's rather small. Exclude child posts.

  11. split the tag pages into monthly updates so if you have large site the tags will be posted in sitem

The current sitemap only limit tags to 50,000 just like the posts but it would also be nice to split them up by month

  13. Link to network sites as well as posts and pages

(using 4.0b8) -- on the main site it would be awesome to include references to network sites' sitemaps as well.

  18. Add only posts/pages which are fully published and public visible

I see error messages of pages/posts which were never visible to the public.

BTW is there a full reset of the sitemap possible?

  19. When you change the permalink manually the sitemap doesn't rebuild!

Just this. When you modify your permalink manually, the sitemap doesn't update. Actually I do a post and I end up modifying the permalink manually almost all times... It would be great if it rebuilds the sitemap automatically.

  20. URL hiding in sitemap

    Hi,
my Blog is availibly at http://www.quafe.de and I have some other site on http://kb.quafe.de both site are related to each other and I linked the kb.quafe.de site in the blog.
Now the xml file contains this link, but Google hate the xml file now.

    "URL not allowed
This url is not allowed for a Sitemap at this location."

I searched for a function to hide a specific url. Would be nice to have such a function. Its not important to have this link in the sitemap.
